Is IPL painless?

IPL treatment does not hurt, some describe it as a flick of an elastic band sensation. IPL treatments do not hurt, although sometimes there is a mild sunburn like sensation for a few hours after the treatment.

How many IPL treatments will I need and how often?

A fully comprehensive consultation with our skin therapist should be completed before undergoing any IPL photorejuvenation treatments. Typically 6 – 12 IPL photo rejuvenation treatments will be required at 2 – 3 week intervals depending on the condition of the skin. Generally there is minimal to no downtime with IPL photorejuvenation. You can return to work and resume all normal activities following your treatment. Follow-up treatment/programs may be desired once or twice a year to maintain results.

Who is NOT a candidate for IPL treatments?

IPL photorejuvenation cannot be performed during pregnancy. IPL also can not be used on the darkest of skin colors, including African American skin as it can cause hypopigmentatoin. IPL also can not done on recently sun-tanned or sun over-exposed skin. After treatment clients will need to avoid sun exposure and use a 30+ sunscreen.

Pre- Treatment Advice for Rejuvenation, Pigmentation, Acne & Vascular
•Do Not expose skin to sun exposure or tanning beds for at least 4 – 6 weeks before or between IPL treatments
•Do Not wax or tweeze immediately before treatment
•Do Not use bleaching creams or perfumed products 24 -48 hours before treatment
•Avoid swimming in strong chlorinated water immediately prior to treatment
•Hydrate the body by drinking plenty of water
•Do Not use instant tanning products for 2 – 3 weeks before treatment
